What we FEAR the most is what gives us the GREATEST GIFT. Hidden under the boulder of FEAR is a TREASURE waiting to be won.

Just like Katie’s story, I also experienced the fear and anxiety of speaking in front of a crowd for the first few times. After more opportunities to speak in public, I subsequently became more confident and comfortable with it.

When I was 17, I read Maxwell Maltz’s best-selling self-help book “Psycho-Cybernetics” (several times). Undeniably, it was pivotal in improving my self-image and in improving the way I dealt with challenges that came my way. It helped me take a good honest look at my strengths and weaknesses and develop an appreciation for my capacity to learn and grow. As a consequence of taking the self-evaluating exercises in Psycho-Cybernetics seriously, my academic performance and school activities improved tremendously. One exercise that stands out in my mind is the exercise where I choose to CHANGE my RESPONSE to situations I FEAR. It required that I make a PROMISE to myself. This promise stayed with me and helps me to this day. The promise I made to myself was that I would FACE my FEARS no matter what and that I would LOVE MYSELF no matter what.
